About Us
Building stronger communities, one writer at a time.
One Pen One Page is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting literacy and leadership through the practice of creative writing. We believe that every person has a story worth telling, and that the act of writing — drafting, revising, sharing — builds the confidence, empathy, and critical thinking young people need to lead in their communities.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: place a pen in every hand, and a page in every life. We design workshops, mentorship programs, and community publishing opportunities that meet writers where they are — in classrooms, libraries, shelters, and after-school programs — and walk with them through the creative process.
What We Do
- Creative Writing Workshops. Free, structured workshops for students and adults, led by trained facilitators and visiting authors. We focus on personal narrative, poetry, and short fiction.
- Leadership Through Literacy. A curriculum that pairs writing instruction with leadership development, giving participants tools to advocate for themselves and their communities.
- Community Publishing. We publish anthologies, online collections, and the essays you'll find on this blog — celebrating the work of every writer we serve.
- Educator Support. We provide free lesson plans, training, and classroom resources to teachers building creative writing into their curricula.
Why Stories Matter
Stories are how we make sense of our experience and how we begin to understand other people's. When a young person learns to put their life on the page, they discover something fundamental: their voice has weight. That discovery is the first step toward leadership — and toward a more literate, empathetic world.
Get Involved
Whether you're a writer, an educator, a parent, or a supporter, there's a place for you here. Read our blog, share our work, attend a workshop, or reach out to learn how you can volunteer or contribute. Every pen matters. Every page matters.
“Changing the world through the power of stories.”
